Ensuring your Neighbourhood Plan (NP) in Birmingham is in general conformity with local and national planning strategy

Your NP must meet several basic conditions for planning and:

• Be in general conformity with the strategic policies in the Birmingham Local Plan

• Have regard to national planning policies.

You need to consider all this while drafting your NP. But you’re not on your own. As our advice and guidance page points out, the Planning department at Birmingham City Council (BCC) will help to keep you on track. You may also be able to secure funding to have an independent planning consultant write up your ideas and policies.
