There are many ways to make change happen in your local area of Birmingham. Neighbourhood Planning is one of them.
Before you start creating a Neighbourhood Plan (NP), it’s important to define the problems you wish to solve and the opportunities you want to seize.
Holding conversations locally about what people like and don’t like can be an excellent springboard for community-led change. These talks can open your eyes to issues in your neighbourhood, while unlocking the energy, creativity and innovation of local people. They will also help everyone feel more connected to the area - and one another.
It might be that, during these conversations, you realise an NP isn’t the right tool to make the changes that your community wants to see. If it isn’t, you will still have got to know your area and neighbours better. You will be able to work together to bring about change in other ways.
