About Birmingham City Council’s
Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit (NDSU)
Liberating the energy, creativity and innovation of Birmingham’s local communities
Birmingham City Council (BCC) is committed to helping local neighbourhoods and communities have more influence over the services and decisions that affect their lives.
BCC set out its approach to this in the 2019 white paper ‘Working Together in Birmingham’s Neighbourhoods’.
Many BCC teams are supporting local people to do this, including:
Planning
Governance
Policy Executive.
BCC’s Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit (NDSU) is the key team bringing all this work together.
NDSU is here to help you liberate the energy, creativity and innovation within your Birmingham community.
NDSU will support you at every stage in your Neighbourhood Planning journey, from initial conversations about whether a Neighbourhood Plan is the right tool for you to use, through to follow-up meetings when your NP has been brought into force.
There is much to consider - and NDSU will help connect the dots between BCC (including planners), community organisations and people who can help and who will have an interest in what you’re hoping to achieve.
You can learn more about NDSU’s support on the advice and guidance page.
