Step 1: Discover
Before you start, make sure an NP is the right tool for the change you want to see in your local area.
It’s a good idea to work through our checklist to see whether you’ve considered everything you need to consider.
Have a look at Locality’s Neighbourhood Plan Roadmap, to see what’s involved in bringing an NP into force.
And, for inspiration, read about the other Neighbourhood Planning groups and NPs that have already been brought into force in Birmingham.
Help is at hand
The Neighbourhood Development and Support Unit at Birmingham City Council (BCC) will support you at every stage in your Neighbourhood Planning journey. A BCC planning officer will assist with every Birmingham NP too. Locality and Birmingham Community Matters have lots to offer you as well.
This combined support will ‘join the dots’ in the process and could prevent significant delays and avoidable changes to your draft NP. Go to the advice and guidance page to learn more.
